![]() Once you download and install the software, the main interface of the program will show you all the printers installed on your system. ![]() ![]() Overall, I found the program’s interface to be a little outdated, but the functionality was excellent. You can download a free 30-day trial to make sure that it works properly with your printer and system. Windows AirPrintįor Windows machines, the most popular program is O’Print, which costs $19.80. In addition, I’ll talk about some hardware you can buy that will also act as a print server. I’m going to mention several programs, some for Mac and some for Windows. With that out of the way, let’s get into the details. It’s worth considering bypassing all of this trouble and simply buying a new AirPrint-enabled printer as they are pretty cheap these days. Lastly, you’ll have to spend some money as these third-party apps are not free. The third-party software basically acts as a proxy and all the print jobs go to the computer first and then are passed on to the actual printer. Secondly, in order to print from your Apple device to your non-AirPrint printer, you’ll need to keep the computer on at all times. It doesn’t matter if the printer is attached locally to the machine or if it is a wireless/network printer, it just needs to be installed on the machine. Firstly, you need to have the printer already installed and working on at least one computer. Thanks for letting us explore this and share. Before we get into the details, let’s talk about the requirements for this to work. ![]() Note: iMobie declines to have a discussion like this under their own offering website, though they do say that have a forum, ( which I have not visited yet ). Our meta-message to the vendors is to be grateful we are using their software at all, because we are probably recommending it to others who may pay, and we are giving them feedback, and at least we are not using the competition’s software while we are using their software, and we may purchase a future version, especially if a future version incorporates our constructive improvement feedback, win win, so, vendors, please don’t be so stingy in your expiring of software that has no reason to expire … except, as WALL suggests, ‘advertising’. OK, iMobie may be offering a current version, but this “trail” awareness sits on the mind of users here and elsewhere at giveaway sites, it’s the environment in which iMobie makes their offering. If they are offering something that is not valuable to them, why would it be valuable to us, and why would they control it to expire if it’s not valuable to them? Many of us consider limited/expiring software to be extended-trial advertising, but trial nevertheless, teaser advertising, especially when the program is an older version, not the current version from the vendor’s catalog, where our feedback would go nowhere because they are no longer developing that older version, so why would we users give feedback, and why would we start to use a program that is new to us, but that the vendor themselves has moved on from and has a new, improved version? Actually, for me, iMobie AnyDroid repeatedly asked to “activate” even though it appeared to successfully accept my credentials when I first ran the program, but after 5 or so restarts and re-activations of the program, it finally came up and did not ask me to “activate”, so there’s that – that might be WALL’s experience, I dunno.
